I have a perverse attitude to loco livery; some engines look fine with full lining and insignia such as the LBSC Terrier. But I just don't like lining and garter crest insignia on Great Western engines. When locos were out-shopped they had the full livery, but after a few months in service the lining disappeared under the grime, as in early photographs, yes, I know about orthochromatic emulsions on film but that's the way I see them, beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that.
