Our German Spur 2 Society (https://www.spur-ii.de/) colleagues staged their annual show in Schenklengsfeld from 26-27 May.

Love the scenic trackwork : Cess, grass and trackside greenery.
Would someone who is fluent in Deutsch care to ask him a few questions (my 52 yr old O-Level is more than a little rusty)?

I hope Monkton looks as good when it's finished.

We had problems using "static grass" ... it wouldn't stand up....has he used it or is that something different?

What colours has he used to wash the track and ballast?

Did he make or buy those weeds?

Will he come and give us a hand with MP.....no that's a bit too much to ask!

I like the construction of the base units... a lot lighter than MP and the leg system looks to be easier to assemble and dismantle (may use a similar system on MP Phase 2).

Torsten has asked me to post the following answers to your questions

For the module frames I use multi-layer plywood 12mm thick.

The legs are IKEA`s Ivar system.

The tracks are painted black, dark and light brown. Colours are painted on one after another, but not fully faced.

The ballast is fixed with a mixture of 50% PVAC glue, 40% water and 10% dark brown tinting paint (for emulsion paint) and finally a few drops of detergent. By doing that the ballast will have a somewhat brownish appearance.

The landscape is basically made from Styrodur. The first coat of paint consists of brown tinting paint with a few drops of PVAC glue. Immediately static grass is applied onto the still wet paint. After it has dried up, I continue with "Heki Dekoflies-Wildgras Bergwiese".For individual shades I use Heki #1578 "Bergwiese", Heki #1576 "Waldboden" and Heki #1575 " Wiesengrün".

The bushes are Heki #1670 and 1671. In addition fine roots from rose plants. Fine sieved sand comes on handy for small country lanes and other bare spots.

Last comes track weathering or aging, best done with rusty coloured pigments from art supplies. Simply apply and scatter dry with a paint brush.
