Recent Production gas fired 4-6-2 Duchess from Kingscale.

Anyone who has purchased one of these from the 50 batch run and would like to run it on my railway (plus tuition if required) can contact me through this G3 site.

Well my NOS Duchess is running in but one large problem remains. Moving the image from forward to reverse... Has anyone worked out an EASY method of doing it or finagled a tool to twist the capsten in some way? At the moment the best method I have found is to poke the arms of the capsten with a long screwdriver.

Mine came pre-owned from the original purchaser and within the tool set has a turned brass handle 55mm long made from 10mm bar with 45mm knurled and a domed end.  The clever bit being the 8mm length at the end turned down to 8mm diameter and drilled through perpendicularly to the bar centrally in the 8mm reduced diameter section with a piece of 1mm diameter silver steel 12mm long inserted.  This is not actually much use as it isn't long enough to pass through the cab window so for the Britannia I also have I produced a longer version of the same type of tool.

Obviously the design may need care and suitable soft material to avoid damaging paintwork and will be out of gauge if left in place whilst running.

It seems to be a suitable design. However I will not be able to make it until after I have new safety glasses ground. Now after two cataract operations I can at last see things - except when I put my glasses on!!!
