Evening John and all,
I don't know if there's an easy solution but the forum is no longer user-friendly on my Apple tablets.  It always logs me out after use, despite checking the 'forever' box; it is often reluctant to log me in, taking several tries with my log-in stored auto fill; and when it does log me in it's normally labelled as 'not secure'.
I did try clearing the cache once, but never again; too much useful stuff disappeared.
I would like to visit daily as I generally did until this year, but it's too much faff.

Happening on Win10 laptops too Tim, ever since John had the server problem. My 'forever' log-in is jut a one-off every time now.

I also cleared down my 'cache' at that time but I'm not doing so again I'm afraid. I can see/read most things (but not all) without signing-in, so it's not the end of the world. I just have to log-in to post (like I have just now). So a bit inconvenient but liveable-with I think.

Regards,

IanT

Nothing's ever Easy - At least the first time around.

This forum (and my other sites) have been scheduled to be moved to a new server quite soon and I will review any outstanding issues at that time.

Meanwhile, how the pages are received seems to depend upon the browser being used.
The site is secure (you have to use https://g3forum.org.uk to connect NOT-http://g3forum.org.uk) but, having said that, different browsers react in different ways.

I have 3 on my Windows10 desktop PC (Firefox, Chrome and MS Edge).
Firefox always gives a "not secure" warning, whereas both Chrome and Edge say it is secure and (when prompted)will display the certificate confirmation and cookies in use.

I did have issues with the login not being permanent but that is now cured....... you need to ensure that your browser has stored the password (most browsers offer this by way of a "pop up" message).

I am attaching the QR code which accesses https://g3forum.org.uk if that is of use to those using ipads, smartphones and similar.

Regards,
John.

i was offered a qr scan at a ar recently. she said i don't need a qr scanner on my phone just use the camera- but it didn't work, so i assume one does need a qr scanner app ? and also needs wi-fi turned on to acheive it???

Yes, you may need an app to decipher the code but you can also do it using an online utility (using your browser) which doesn't require you to install anything.

Example is .... https://qrscanneronline.com/ ....
you simply upload the image.

John

P.S. You do need internet access.
