Hi Gang, first post on joining Forum so here goes.
I too have the GRS 121 bubble car -slowly working through and enjoying it. One question on handles and grabs - does any soul make a cast brass/white metal handle and grab handle/ commode handles - with umptythree doors each side a good looking affair is my desire.
I did try at Kingscale as the Mark one door gear is the same but no was the reply only into selling complete coaches.
Many thanks for any help

Hi Robert
Got a bit worried when you were asking about commode handles, not got to that time of life yet.
However, Kingscale coaches are made by Bowande in China so you could send them an email for nowt.
Welcome to the forum.
Cheers

Hi
I have built a bubble at and kit bashed two bubble cars into a 117 2 car unit. For the grab handles I used the brass rod as supplied in the kit.
Mark.
I've also got a class 121, but hadn't thought about the grab handles yet. I'd be happy to draw one and get a 3D pattern printed, if there are others interested in a set cast in brass?
Does anyone have dimensions to hand? I made some similar D handles for a VofR carriage a few years back and they just might be the right size. I had them cast in brass.

Hi Also emailed Bowande last night. UK made items might be possible. I did hunt for drawings a while back but no luck so far Current Vor R stock does have have the BR type so this would indeed br a source, as would the BR T type door handle.
Thanks for replies so far
Robert
the GRS kit has the handle fixing 10mm apart.
Having been on one of Chiltern Railways Heritage 'Bubble' cars that used to work Princes Risborough to Aylesbury line, it is little wonder that those travelling by commode need handles - they rocked quite a lot on points and curves!
Sorry chaps, just couldn't resist.

Seriously though, if DMUs are like older Heritage stock, every builder would have used different shaped commode handles, so check photos of prototype first.

Here's the handles I have. They were done for a friend restoring some vintage handbuilt models and may be no good at all. I only actually have one sprue remaining, but can easily order more. The rule is mm.
They are: commode handle, door T handle, footboard bracket (probably VoR specific) and door stop. Of course, if you only want the commode handle you'll have to take the others too - sorry!

and another photo of the same sprue.

Hi gang, no progress todate trying to find a clear picture of door for Bowande.
Mike, thanks for pictures , sadly not right for BR std design which has a cranked end but lovely looking castings all the same.
Robert
Hope this is clear enough for you. A Bowande BR Mk1 coach door & its detail in close scrutiny.
