I wonder how many LBSC inspired projects only ever got to the chassis stage. Seems very few builders built a boiler. But as someone said recently "no self respecting model engineers workshop is complete without that unfinished chassis lying around". Here you go chaps ..... !
It's not an LBSC design. It's a Bonds Standard Pacific. Looks quite nice and seems to have all the Bonds castings. I've got one but it's missing the cast rear frames unfortunately, although I know a man who might have a spare one :)

This one is the Weise/Collins design I believe Andy.
Coal fired, it can be built as an A1 or A3 and the build details were published as a series in ME quite a few years ago now. Plans are still available I believe. The castings look well machined but it's always hard to tell just from a photo. Not exactly a real "bargain" but I suspect that the engine wheel castings alone (from N2.5GA) might cost someone a bit more. This offer includes the tender wheels too, so that helps improves the value. I've not checked N2.5GA casting prices recently btw.
Mark Wood charges about £36 per 'driver' for his very fine (e.g. lost-wax cast) FS wheel castings though and the full loco wheel set is about £350! So nice but also pretty expensive. The buffer stocks shown here look a bit long to me (and there are 8?) but may be a design variant. They are not the same as my FS ones for sure.

PS - So on the face of it the Bonds engine is pretty good value! (£30 - no bids yet att)
As always it depends on the quality of the work undertaken thus far but assuming it is OK, then it would be a very economic starting point for an engine of this size, with the major cost then being mainly the boiler materials. Bonds 'generic' plans for their Pacific & Atlantic designs are available from N2.5GA (Gerald C) and they are very solid engines. Although normally a bit on the heavy side for a 'scale' loco (at least as designed) care with the plate-work & size of boiler used, would probably help in this area.

I'm pretty sure it's the Bassett Lowke Flying Scotsman, not the later Wiese/Collin one. I've got the BL booklet and the frames look identical. The buffers are definitley not right though!
It's been on several times now but obviously no interest in it. Maybe people think it's too pricey for what it is? It's got to be worth it for the full set of machined wheels though.
I picked up the Bonds Pacific chassis off Ebay last year with a view to eventually getting patterns made for the various castings used. We could then start supplying them again. I also managed to get a chassis for the Bonds 4-6-0 Mixed Traffic loco.

My apologies John, I didn't look too closely at the frames to be honest, I was more interested in the condition of the wheels and the quality of turning already done.
I know that TEE Publishing do (did?) a small booklet on building the B/L engine but I think I'd be more inclined to start over on the frames (and use just the wheel set) to build the Weise/Collins coal-fired engine. I'm assuming that the Twining's B/L design is 17/32" scale (and not 1/2" though) - if so the wheel sets should be very similar.

Not sure, but I've a feeling the BL FS might be 1/2" scale. I've got an original copy of the booklet somewhere.
