I though that I had posted something here about this build but can't find it, hey ho.
Here are some pictures of the finished engine which was based on Lion which is held at the Liverpool Museum. I knew that I could never build a true scale model hence the change in name to Enigma. The tender is a brass body sitting on a styrene under frame. The firebox and smokebox are copper and the boiler barrel brass which all sit on brass frames. All wheels are from mark Mood, usual disclaimer, machined by yours truly and the rest is scratch built.

I have no period stock at present and may have to 'invent' something. I have scanned the internet many times looking for links to drawings of things to go behind her but nothing as yet. As I say, I may have to make something up myself that looks the part but may not be 'as per'.

So far as I am aware, Lion was used in service until 1857, so could well have run with stock from the 1850s. Jon, you have a 4-cpt Third and I know plans for a 3-cpt First, both of which would be suitable.
Or any of the Henson wagons of the LNWR, drawings of which were published in 1855, so not around when Lion was built, but certainly around before it was withdrawn.

There are quite a few images of the early (yellow) LMR carriages available - and also the open passenger 'trucks' that the LMR used. But I believe Lion was originally built as a freight hauler (for the "conveyance of luggage") and I don't think any examples of the 'freight' stock survived. There are a few contemporary LMR 'illustrations' available but they are really just cartoons. However, have a look here (mid-way down the page) - clearly not scaled drawings but maybe the basis for some period stock that would look about right with a little intelligent guesswork (later stock would probably have evolved from it)

Or, as Mike states - the later stock is more clearly documented and probably easier to find good drawings for...

Thank you both for the input and I'll give it all some serious thought. One thing to remember though is that this engine is not Lion but a variation and so, I suppose, I could haul whatever I liked, goods or passenger :). I need to finish the 3rd and make up at least one 1st coach albeit a 'special', and maybe scratch build at least three early wagons.

Maybe a fleet of small wagons like this would suit the size of the engine.
