Title: axles
Post by: trammedic on Apr 25 2010 10:47
Hello All,

I'm new to G3, and working on my first loco design. Could anyone save me a little time please, and let me know the diameter of the Slaters driving wheel axles?

Many thanks,
Tony.

Hi Tony,

Slaters use 1/4in - same as for Gauge 1.  The normal in Gauge 3, at least for steam, is 3/8in.

Most common gear sizes are now in MOD... Be sure that there is a suitable gear that can be drilled to the correct bore. MOD 0.7 and MOD 1.0 are the most suitable tooth sizes for a G3 loco. Although if you are as lazy with your maths as I am -all your gears will be MOD 1...
