Title: 2.5" Jubilee on eBay
Post by: IanT on Jul 15 2010 14:49
Lot's of photos of this one. A new build and it certainly looks very clean - BUT no boiler certificate (so I'd make that a condition of sale) and it may need a re-spray to suit some (LMS) tastes.

Well yes...

The colour is "Markeaton Red" as used by the Midland Counties Railway -possibly someone ordered "Midland Red" and this is what turned up in the tins!!! The original colour of the MCR locos was "Strutt Green" -there is a story that a colour blind clerk ordered the next batch of paint off a colour chart and faced with several thousand gallons of the wrong colour the MCR simply used it... Most of the mgt of the MCR were Quakers and it fits in with their ethos -an ethos carried over for several decades by the Litchurch Lane Works(!!!)

Hello All

Good point John, although he also states that he is selling on behalf of someone else - so presumably it is a private sale.

Worth asking the question though...

Up to 450 now (11 bids) with 6 days still to go.

Hello Ian & All

If he is selling it through the business then surely he is obliged to put the V.A.T. on it . The only way round it I can think of would be to put the V.A.T. on the commission he charges for doing it as he has not bought it , But its going to mess up his accounts .
Not up for it myself . But I would hate to see any one stung for17.5 % on that amount of money .
