Post by: John Candy on Aug 02 2010 21:54
Seen on Ebay

Looks to be in first class cosmetic order but no guarantee given as to mechanical condition.
"Buy it Now" price 1999GBP.

As we've recently discussed John, you really do need a current boiler certificate to sell engines at this kind of price (and ideally I'd want to see it steamed too!).

New'ish paintjob, but that's no indication of the mechanical condition and you can't tell anything from the photos. I've seen better engines for sale, at less money, with a boiler cert and known history at the AGM.

All I can say for sure, is that it doesn't look very much like a GNR Atlantic to me.

As we agree with all things Ebay-related, it is a case of caveat emptor.

I agree it does not match up to a true Ivatt Atlantic but looks as though it could have been based on a Gresley experimental rebuild, if there were such a beast!

As with so many 2.5 inch gauge models it is more a case of "in the style of" rather than an accurate scale model.

Regards,
John.
