Ok, im thinking about getting one of these at some point.
Question is do they go together? Ive heard many bad things about them and wondered what issues people have had? What tools would I need? Maybe I should wait till a second hand built version shows up?
Thanks,
Simon.
I have one of these kits which has been sitting, untouched, on a shelf for at least six years!
Gordon at GRS, who built their display example, commented that it is a bit of a pig to build.
There have been several comments in this forum about this kit and there is an advice sheet in the Members Only section of www.gauge3.org.uk which gives useful tips on pitfalls to avoid and useful modifications.
Recently forum member "dajo" has been experimenting with improvements to an example bought secondhand see http://lakes-pages.com/gauge3.co.uk/G3Forum/index.php?topic=420.0
There have been other reports of poor performance which have required much "tinkering" to put right.

hornbeam... It is a pig to build, but worth it.. there are now a number running so if you get stuck there are a number that can supply much better photographs etc.
The problem really lies in that it is a large etched brass kit that is slightly too big for the engineering of the etched brass philosophy. i have the current problem of folding a mark 1 coach.. The method id great in principle but it is designed for tooling that is too big (In my case, too small in yours) for the engineering.
As I said go fot it... Youcould also blow 1500 onthe one on ebay currently ready built...
