looks well manufactured of what has been done. Ray Wallis has that beautiful stirling single which is electric RC. Would be interesting to see how they compare for size and proportions.

This looks like parts of an older engine that have been stripped down to the bare brass. Apart from the boiler and the platework, all of the other main working parts seem to be missing.

I have a full set of Association castings for the 8 foot Sterling and they cost about 150 pounds at the time I think (and that was few years ago). However, I very much doubt that this engine was built to the existing Sterling plans and it could be to 1/2" scale, so trying to back-engineer this platework to a working chassis might not be at all straightforward. It's certainly not something I'd consider doing and I already have the full castings set and drawings.

To put this into another perspective, there was a newly completed Sterling (unpainted) on the Associations stand at Sandown last year - up for offers of about 1,000. With all the metalwork completed, from memory, it had been run on air and had a boiler certificate. A much better bet I feel.

Regards,

Ian T

I don't suppose anyone on here bought this, but if they did I have a similar loco which may be useful to them.  In fact I was about to advertise it for sale anyway.  Mine has frames, wheels, footplate and splashers, cab, buffers etc, but no boiler.  The two sets of parts might combine nicely to make a decent loco.

Hello Mike

I might well be interested in your bits of the Stirling Single if they are being offered.  Perhaps you could send me a couple of pictures at: flints@onetel.net

Many thanks

SOLD!

The the purchaser of the other e-Bay lot mentioned above.  The two go together well and should make into a nice engine.
