My initial reaction was an original NER Class D, however on closer examination the cylinders look like those used on the Metropolitan Railway H Class.

I think you are right Doddy.  Looks like a pretty good match.

That H class Met loco looks absolutely right.  No sure I'd like to attempt turning that pile of bits into something like the photo.  Best start from scratch, say I.
B_T_W, is the model in the photo live steam or electric, do you know?

The cylinders remind me of WH Jubb (JLS) castings - but I thought it was an Atlantic (4-4-2)
