MRC Feb-June 81

Just a long shot ...
Inspired by Hornby Pullman passenger cars I started googling in search of drawings etc.
It would appear that there was indeed a series of articles in Model Railway Constructor (Feb-June 1981). Perhaps somebody has them in their library? before I go trying to get them on FeeBay?
Would be interested whether the info/drawings contained in these mags would be any good for trying to build something in G3?

I know nothing of the MRC articles but there was a series in Modellers Backtrack in the 1990's tracing the history from the earliest cars through to the electric "Brighton Belle" cars of the 1930s.

Somewhere in the attic I have them.....thankfully not damaged by my recent burst pipe!

Just googled it and you are indeed right:
Modeller's Backtrack
1991 June-July and August-September editions.
Both well illustrated with drawings and photos and both ran for 9/10 pages.

And of course Chris, others have gone before and may have useful advice to share....

I understand that a certain railway in Farnham is about to include a Pullman Service and I was recently sent some images of a completed Pullman Carriage that looks rather swish. I'm sure Dick would be happy to chat about where he sourced his information from if that was helpful.

and yes, I would love to get to AGM, but it is 550 miles round trip

It's a pity you can't make the AGM Chris - as it is a good opportunity to meet like-minded people and look at some great models (and maybe even find the odd bargain or two!). I've always very much enjoyed them.

However, it is also understandable given the cost of fuel and rail fares these days. I certainly think twice before driving anywhere and it's not going to get better anytime soon - if ever.

However, I am sure that Dick can be pursuaded to provide more information about how he designed and built his Pullman and hopefully we can get this ready for the March Newsletter.
