GRS kit SR 12 ton van

Unmade kit incldg wheels at very reasonable price.
Photo/description lacking in detail but I have checked GRS catalogue No. quoted and it is the plywood-bodied version (GRS do 3 versions of the SR van ; even planked, uneven planked and plywood).

Odd.
somebody is in for a surprise when they open the delivered package.

Sellers description says.......GRS SOUTHERN VAN KIT FOR GAUGE 3. COMPLETE KIT INC WHEELS, DECIDED TOO BUSY AT MOMENT AND PREFER OTHER KITS TO G..R.S SO OFFER FOR SALE, PLASTICARD BODY WITH WHITEMETAL CHASSIS AND COMPONENTS.

So how come its Plywood

Not that I'm interested/bothered.

Rob,

The kit is plastic but it is a model of a plywood-bodied prototype.
The Southern (in common with the LMS,LNER & GWR) cut construction costs in the late 1940s by using plywood instead of planks.

GRS produce three kits, representing each of the types built by the Southern.
The other types were planked, one having even width planks and the later type uneven width planks.
