Does anyone know how wide wagon floorboards should be?  6"?

I use lollypop sticks, no-one has complained so far....

Sounds like a good source of free materials.  I'm scratchbuilding and want to scribe a plasticard floor hence my enquiry but I'll keep the lollypop stick idea in mind.

Jon,

You obviously prefer to run trains of empties. I get around this problem by inserting a load i.e. coal.
Then it no longer seems to matter much.

However, 7" wouldn't look out of place Jon (7.9mm)     :)

Railway Clearing House 1923 standard for mineral wagons was 7" x 2 1/2".
This was the same as the Midland had been using since the 1870's.
