Dreweatt's have a KS Brit and a tidy looking 4F in their auction later this month.

A 4F with Joy valvegear - may be a reduced scale version of the Don Young 5in 4F, which works very well?  Looks very nice indeed and inexpensive.

The 4F will be to the LBSC design 4562 which did have Joy valve gear.

Ahh! - the LBSC design origin would explain why, for a loco that has been finished so well with many nice bits of detailing, it just looks so wrong in the front view.

The width over running plates compared to the smokebox saddle / width between frames, and the buffer spacing are all out of proportion.

MikeWilliams

Oh well, shows what I know about 4Fs.  I thought it looked nice!

I agree Mike - it looks a very nicely made engine, it's history is known and it has a boiler certificate. So a much better bet than most of the engines we see advertised - many of which are unfortunately not nearly as well made and don't have the crucial boiler certificate (and the sellers often still expect silly money).

It will be interesting to see what it does actually sell for. The price guide seems reasonable.
