Monobloc kit for LNER Gresley "Light"  8ft 6ins Bogie.

The "Light" pattern of Gresley bogie was employed under carriages having tare weight less than 35 tons.

The bolster component is printed from a separate file to be attached to the rear of main side frame, as shown in photos.

The axleboxes are inserted from rear of frame and positioned with top edge touching top of the slideway: Hold axlebox  angled sideways, insert left side (with the cover bolt) first and press into slideway, then retaining with a spot of superglue on the rear/inside edges.

This bogie can be simply sprung, employing piano wire, as described for use with the previous Monobloc kits

I shall be fitting these under my LNER  Gresley 61ft 6ins and 52ft 6ins  gangwayed stock, including a Buffet Car which is below 35 ton limit, but excluding my PBVs from the early LNER Lots, which ran on ex-GNR 8ft Fox bogies.

No plans to produce any electrics at present: To be realistic would require OHL equipment for 1500V Manchester/Hadfield/Glossop and Liverpool St./Shenfield stock or third rail for Tyneside stock.
I believe the Tyneside stock ran on 8ft bogies but have no drawings for any LNER electric bogies.

Hi Simon,

Back in the 1980s/90s, Backtrack (or may have been Modellers Backtrack) carried a series of articles on Pullmans. I cannot remember whether there were drawings of the bogies and cannot find the issues at present.
It's not easy to keep track of 60+ years of several mags but when I come across it I will let you know.
I have a recollection that the articles may have been by Barry C Lane, so it may be worth asking him.

Barry Lane has written several articles about Pullmans and built some models too.  I do recall him stating that some used secondhand underframes and bogies.  I'm afraid he's not very well at the moment.

Found my copy Modellers' Backtrack Vol.1 No.3 August/September 1991 with article by Barry Lane.
It has a detailed GA drawing of the 10ft bogie said to have been fitted to all Pullmans (except the SR "Brighton Belle" cars) built from the introduction of the "K" type cars in/around 1924 until 1951. It is very much like the Fox bogies in appearance but is said to have been first built by Claytons
