I wasn't sure whether to post this here or on the 'Troublesome Trucks' thread....

Went past my local 'Modelzone' shop today and noticed they have Bachmann 'Annie' & Clarabel' coaches on sale at £29.99 each - a good price if anyone wants some to chop up and reconfigure, as demonstrated on 'Blackgang' last Saturday.

Thomas and Percy are both on sale at £99.99 (which seems to be the same price as many on-line retailers), but Troublesome trucks aren't in the sale (still at £47).

That coach deal sounds quite tempting Andy.

I will admit to being somewhat 'tight' where money is concerned (I think it may be genetic) so I was hoping to start find them at car-boots in the next year or so. I've always found it hard to take the knife to brand new stuff.

I will also admit to not having heard of 'Modelzone' before (I do lead a sheltered life). I tend to use a very good modeling shop on the outskirts of Windsor that sell models boats/planes etc and therefore have some very nice ply stock available - plus small section brass etc.

Anyway I was curious and Bing'd them. They are clearly quite large a franchise and have a shop locally to me in Reading (which came as a bit of a suprise). I must look them up when I next get dragged there by Herself.

A list of their shops is here by the way:

Ian,
In general, Modelzone don't have a lot of interest to us in G3 - apart from 1:24 diecast or plastic kit road vehicles which are mostly post 1950, but often at sale prices.
They tend to be over-priced on basics like paint, and don't stock much in the way of materials or tools at all.

So if you need to let the moths loose from your wallet, for most things I'd stick with your shop in Windsor by the sound of it! ;D

But hey, 30 quid for a carriage is nothing compared to the cost of a new handbag (so I'm told)  ;)
