Just wondered whather anyone has progressed Connect3 units recently?

Having found a new home for my father's 4mm model railway, I now have space in the loft which is crying out for a small Gauge 3 test track and I'm thinking about modular baseboards using Connect3 standards.

Has anyone on here actually made any Connect 3 units and connected them?

In the smaller scales pattern-makers dowels are the norm to ensure baseboards line up exactly and that's what I favour but I know there was a school of thought that in G3 its best to align by eye.  Is there a concensus yet?
