Girder Bridge in Planning

Well, all magazines and books have arrived and I think now having read them that I won't be building a Brunel type bridge.  The sizes of section needed in our scale are quite large which means buying a lot expensive oak.  I would only make it from oak and heart wood at that, at least I would then be happy that it would last outside.  I've been swapping emails with Michael Leckenby of MVL Bridges and my latest thinking is that If I don't buy one of his simple decks, then I will scratch build a bridge myself from aluminium section.  I went to B&Q this morning to look at their ali sections and to compare prices and it will  e far cheaper to buy from Michael.
The garden bridges shown in the book, Building Bridges and Viaducts by Bob Alderman are truly inspiring and would love to have something like in my garden but not sure if I'm up to making one of those.  If you get a chance to look at his book, do have a peak at what some people are capable of.
