BRITISH DIESEL MULTIPLE UNIT
« on: Jan 22 2010 22:03 »
DMU makes easy work of the snowy conditions last week.
This model is powered by a single 12v re-chargable battery and includes sound and lights.
It is driven by a hand held RC remote transmitter and runs on G3 64mm track.
Please check the video for full effect

Very good Trevor - I'm impressed.  It must have been cold just standing there let alone running trains.  I'd like to have seen the first run of the day, complete with plough!

Trevor,

Great video, I will admit that i had my live steam pannier out in the snow to test its radio controls and it looked great. The 08 shunter went well too. As a matter of interest where did you get the unit from?

Thanks for the post

Hi Kieth
The DMU was made for me by the late  Gordon Nightscales about 5 years ago. Gordon was a dear friend of mine and was a G3 member for many years.
It was originally a belt drive which had a tendency to slip so the belt and driving cog were replaced with a more substantial drive with 'mesh and teeth'
The sound unit was a present from Ray Wallis (also a member) which i understand was off the shelf.
Ray fitted it so if you want details on this talk to him at the AGM.

Mike, regarding the snow, I caught it early so I was able to use a soft brush to clear

Thanks Trevor.

I do like the unit. I will catch up with them at the AGM.
