Boilers
« on: Jul 20 2016 19:14 »
Hello folks, new member here,
I'm looking for recommendation for boiler makers.
The subject in question is a boiler for a BL Scotsman,
meths fired, although the parts I have would also consider gas the gas option.
Any recommendations?
Thanks

Hi Martin,

Does the boiler you want have a cast backhead, or is it all copper?

Wstern Steam http://www.westernsteam.com/standard-published-designs-category.php?&catid=1002 list Flying Scotsman in their 2 1/2" list - but it does not say whether this is the B-L or more recent Paul Wiese design.

Hi Andy,
It's copper I belive and I have got a quotation from them by return. Very long waiting time though so they're  very busy. I am looking at all possibilities
Thanks,
Martin

Another one to try is George Brannigan - details near the bottom of this page - http://www.steamplates.co.uk/Suppliers.html

Regarding lead times, I think it is just a simple reality that there are only a handful of professional model boiler makers in the UK and they all have more than enough work on. The only chance of 'jumping the queue' is if they already have an order scheduled for one of the type you want then to make a second at the same time takes proportionately a lot less time.
