He was already in the cab when I acquired the loco from Roger Marsh.  Roger said he had to amputate his feet to fit him in, and if you look carefully you can see that he is "footless".  It must be pretty uncomfortable for him standing in the cab on those stumps, and that is probably why he is hanging on to the side of the cab so tightly.  He does look quite like a typical industrial loco driver, tho' but.
