Title: Metro Coach
Post by: 753 on Sep 03 2019 15:30
Experimental panelled coach body made from layered styrene, the floor is made from 1mm alli to give a rigid base and with the compartment walls it is quite robust.

Do you mean that you carved out the panelling from sheet?  Or was it laser cut?
The likk should give you a pic of my similar attempt in laser cut .8mm ply

John

The styrene was cut on a CNC mill, two basic layers with gap for glazing, then panelling on outside, droplights on inside of doors, and bolection around widows, which gives a 3-dimensional effect.
Bare wood coaches are difficult to make but yours looks very good.

Nice Mike.  Jamie Page did something similar on a mill, but in his case to produce one unit which was replicated with cast resin.  Sorry for my ignorance, but what is it?

The coach is complete, I have come to the conclusion I don't like coaches they are to big and take up to much room, a difficult problem to reconcile!!

Very nice job ...... the "curly" commode handles look good but must have been fiddly to make.

Regards,
John.

John

Thank you for your comments, the curly handles you mention were cut on the CNC mill as was were all the components of the coach.
There is a new offshoot forum on the G1MRA website dealing with computer added machines to produce parts for models   https://groups.io/g/GaugeOne3DCircle
Interesting exchange of experiences and ideas with these technologies.

The compensated Deltic Bogie and the Class 116 DMU look interesting.

Thanks Mike!
