Title: Water, water, everywhere!
Post by: John Candy on Mar 02 2022 10:01
Water, water, everywhere!

Borrowing the words of Coleridge (The Rime of the Ancient Mariner), to describe my activity over the past couple of months.

You will recall my 3D prints for the LNWR 2000 Gallon tank and the LNWR water columns, well, my latest addition is another GWR tank (7,000 gallons) to stand at Abbottsferry Junction.

I have several GWR water cranes (built a few years ago) plus the water tank originally intended for use at Monkton Priors (based on the Alcester GWR tank).

Both tanks are "water tight" and (rather than attempt to simulate water) will be filled to "float level" with water, when in situ (the vibration of passing trains plus the breeze should produce a ripple-effect).

I still have the LNWR items to paint and fit the "bags" (made from shrink tubing) and then I will have sufficient watering facilities for the three major stations on my line.

The OpenSCAD files for producing the square water tank are now available to download .

The descriptive/instruction file is at gauge3.info/openscad/squarewatertank/squarewatertank.pdf

The individual OpenSCAD files are named in the PDF and are stored at gauge3.info/openscad/squarewatertank/<filename>
NOTE: You need to add the individual file name to the path above, otherwise you will receive an error message denying
access.
UPDATE : March 2023
The 3D print directory and related files have been amended and moved to www.gauge3.info
All files are now supplied as .STL (not .SCAD)

Regards,
John
