This rather handsome engine deserves representation in G3.
The frames of the E Class are made form 1.5mm steel with axles running in brass hornblocks and beam compensation.
The wheels were machined from 8mm ally plate with a square slot for quartering and the springs were engraved from 6mm ally.

The Metro E Class is finished, and looking rather smart in it's bright livery.
The engine is powered by a 24V DC motor with integral gearbox and driven via bevel gears to the middle axle.

The Metropolitan Railway built some rather nice four wheeled teak coaches which I thought would go well with the Metro tank engine.
The body is made from different thicknesses of styrene sheet in layers, a 2mm inside layer with a gap for the glazing and to form the tumblehome then 1.5mm outside layer then 1mm for the panelling.
The chassis is made from brass with 3D printed details buffer stocks and brake shoes and hangers.
Can anyone offer advice for painting teak coaches?
Mike
The best I can do is to show you the result I obtained with a test piece.
The base is a sheet of black ABS, with a coarsely brushed coat of Vallejo "Bright Orange" (70.851) followed by a couple of light coatings of Ronseal "Satin Teak" Interior Varnish.
This is how my rake of Gresley corridor stock will be finished.
The first photo shows the sample sitting on a G-plan teak table top ... can you see the boundary?
Second photo shows the boundary marked with the test base colours visible.
Third shows various layers.
In all photos there are light reflections which appear as bands .
Regards,
John.
P.S. I have your email and will deal with the transfers.

I had to look at the photos a few times to understand what I was actually seeing John - but yes, that does seem an excellent method.
Well done and thank you

The Metro coach is complete, painting the teak effect was interesting after doing some test panels with different combinations of colours and thickness of paint I found the right combination. I am pleased with the result.

The engine and coach make a pleasing sight
