Title: Whatever happened to the Kingscale GWR Auto trailer?
Post by: John Candy on Apr 30 2018 12:38
Looking at the Kingscale website just now, all traces of the GWR auto trailer have been erased.

Has Kingscale "pulled the plug" on the project?
It was a couple of years (maybe longer) overdue for delivery and last I heard was that production would not begin until 50 orders had been secured.

Perhaps someone who had placed an order can confirm.... if it has been cancelled then presumably you will have received a refund of your deposit?

John.

I just bought two Ashley, and very good they are too.

As far as the autocoach is concerned I don't think they had enough orders, plus they had a few complaints about the 14xx, along with the coach project not having enough money in it for them.  While I don't want to make this another thread of moaning, I've still got issues with mine and would not buy anything from Kingscale again.

On a more positive note, althrough not of the same type, GRS may end up doing a new aurocoach and possibly a slip coach based around their Collett coaches.

Simon,

What issues are you still having with your 14XX?
Feedback from others I know with that model have had issues but Jon Spalding has corrected the faults and in at least one case replaced with a new model.

Regards,
John.

A very long story. Refunded money as the R/C was terrible. Constant issues with the axle pump and hand pump not working. 3 blocked gas jets, now on its second gas valve as well. Very erratic running. I've had R/C installed professionally but the running is far from perfect. And once again the axle pump has given up working g again. It's a shame, and I've given up with it at the moment.

That is a terrible catalogue of faults and I sympathise.
"Not of merchantable quality" is the description coming to mind.

John.

It's best described as unfortunate. It's the only purchase in the hobby I've made and regretted it deeply. I know people out there have got theirs working well and maybe mine will one day. But the quality clearly isn't there and anytime I see it in the cabinet I can't help but get wound up by it.

Anyway, luckily there are a great deal of suppliers out there who supply good quality items. And at the risk of a thread drift the perfect world opens are going together very well.
