Our society was donated a load of "interesting variety" models, mostly abandoned & unfinished G45 products.
For a donation to club funds I decided to acquire a selection of items to play with, modify & re-create & re-cycle or up-cycle in the new trendy parlance. Perhaps our chairman has some bits remaining to whet appetites?

So, the clip in this post was inspired by one of the acquired items & bits. A modified brass framed 2 axle bogie with motor with worm & pinion gears was up-cycled together with a cheap Landrover from a car boot sale to make a fun vehicle to terrorise this years GTG's. Last year it was Spurn Railway Fowler rail bus. This year it is the Red Devil.

For the purists, there are no visible rivets to count. Just hex & slotted screws to hold everything together. Probably very over scale.

The really sad feature of this converted 4x4 road vehicle is that it is only 2 wheel drive for now until I can arrange a front wheel drive gear.

It took me all day to fix up. but is still work in progress to complete. Like where to put the battery pack.

Dave that's not as whacky as you might think. Long moor military railway had a land rover converted to run on the railway.

Dave, the Statford Barn Railway have a Narrow Gauge 'Landie', which a few years ago ran at the Ffestiniog 'Quirks and Curiosities' weekend.

The sound it makes sounds like an aero-engine - why not give the driver goggles and a white scarf?

Mark & Ian,

I guess must trawl the car boot sales for miniature figures that could be used, could take some time & it will be whatever I can find unless of course I repaint & reform existing figures otherwise were destined to become passenger coach occupants.

..... but Gromit was riding on top of a carriage (Annie & Clarabel conversion?) and the penguin was on a blue 0-4-0 tender loco. No Austin to be seen in that part of the film.

The Landy definitely looks more Wacky Races to me.

OK I admit defeat, Whacky Races it is.

Red Baron & flapping scarf will be duly searched for.

That still leaves the problem of where to stow the batteries. This vehicle has a 28 Volt motor. It is currently running on half that voltage with "Kinder Scout" battery pack.

Sadly will not be ready for this weekend but a future GTG will be graced with it's presence.
