Anyone interested in a set of etches for a Gauge 3 BR Class 02 diesel shunter?

This would fit on the 6ft (in G3 scale) wheelbase LGB chassis that uses the correct size wheels and can readily be converted to 63.5mm gauge.

The etches would be made by Worsley Works, comprise the upper body, running plate, valances and steps only, and use 2 sheets of 0.7 and/or 0.9mm brass. The etcher is Grange & Hodder of Birmingham.

The price for a one off is £200, but if I can get orders for 3 etches or more the price is reduced to £150 each. If you want the chassis (frames) as well, then let me know as there will be an extra cost.

The chap who does it, Allen Doherty, has done some excellent work in the larger scales. For a smaller scale version of the built up etch see:

The 02 was built by Yorkshire Engine Co. and one is used by the National Railway Museum to shift exhibits. For a pic of a real 02 see:

Hello Ian and All

Get him to re visit the boxes infront of the cab , the radius is too big . Look at the photograph of the S scale one on his web site and then compare with a full size one . Might evan do milled frames and rods on the phantograph if any one wants . Feel etching is too  thin for G3 .

Regarding etched brass bodies in G3, I am inclined to agree with Midnight Miller that it produces rather flimsy results.

I have part constructed the GRS kit of the GWR Dean Goods and some of that is so "bendy" as to cause concern.

My fellow Members, ask not what your Society can do for you, ask what you can do for your Society.

I note that Worsley say "Our extensive range of artwork can be used to produce kits in any scale" which worries me because artwork for 3mm scale will just not fit when blown up the Gauge 3, so is it actually a re-draw?

He says drawings are to 12mm : 1ft scale

My plan is to use the body on top of a complete chassis including headstocks made of laser cut steel,  with the gauge widened LGB motor block and wheel combo mounted within this and the etched body mounted on top. AS such, the body is just a cover to contain the motor, batteries, etc., is not load bearing, and can be detailed as required.
