Very small spanners

I recently purchased an engine without outside valvegear and the return crank is fixed onto its square with small screws and nuts which measure c2.2mm a/f.  One has come loose.  Any suggestions where to find or how best to make a spanner or spinner of that size?  I will have no idea what the thread is, until I can get it off.

The set of pseudo BA spinners I have are actually metric and neither 2mm nor 2.5mm will hold.

I think it's most likely a 12BA nut Mike - which should be 0.090" (2.286mm) across flats. You could open the 2mm spanner 'out' a little maybe? Sounds like your spanners might be a bit undersized for BA. The 2.5mm spanner could be enlarged slightly to 0.103" A/F (for BA11 nuts - not a common size) or to 0.114" for BA10.

The socket size of a 4BA capscrew is 3/32" (or it should be) if you have one Mike - 3/32" being 0.09375" - a few thou larger than you need but still between your 2.0 & 2.5mm "pseudo" BA spanners...

Roxey Mouldings sell some very nice nut spinners.
