Looks interesting.  He says "3-rail" but I see no pickups so perhaps its just not insulated for 2-rail.  Suit batteries?

I wonder if its actually Gauge 1 but Broad Gauge?

It's one of those e-Bay things where just for a moment you think - Mmmm - then you look more closely!

At least the Seller isn't pretending it's an antique.

The wheels don't look insulated in any way and there is a pick-up 'wiper' underneath that attaches to what looks like a paxolin block but this appears offset to the track centre. It's certainly not a traditional 'skate' system. Modern'ish looking motor with a strange mix of workmanship.

I'd guess it was some sort of brass 'display' kit originally (the actual metal forming is pretty good) that someone has "assembled" and tried to motorise along the way. You may be right about it being 10mm scale Mike - as the offset wiper might be about right for pickup on an inside rail, if the engine was being run as a broad gauge loco on a third rail laid outside a G1 track?

Unusual but I think I can resist this particular orphan!
