Progress Update on New Wagon Kits

Thanks Mike,

There are several options and it is a matter of how simple the method of kit construction should be (whereas experienced modellers would have no concerns about chopping and drilling lumps of brass, a "beginner" might shy away from a kit with such complications).

For my own personal projects (as opposed to our joint kit projects) I have found whitemetal casting to be convenient and acceptable, although the detailing may not be as "sharp" as with brass etching.

With the tar tank and RCH 1923 wagons under development (and the GNR & GCR fish vans already on the drawing board) I think it will be some months before the steel underframes figure in the plans. The laser cut steel option (perhaps applied as solebar and headstock overlays to a resin skeleton) sounds an attractive option.

Regards,
John.
My fellow Members, ask not what your Society can do for you, ask what you can do for your Society.

Are they going to have operating doors on the underside. I know Bolingforbroke (Roger in Wales) could do with that when it comes to ballasting his rather large railway.

Hello Mike and All
Re steel U/F   Please  draw it up from scratch , If you blow up from 7mm:1ft you increase any errors that may be there . Also if you have your own design , Then you can have what we need rather than what some one else thinks or an interpretation of what a 7mm modeler can get away with  . With the option of squeeze out rivets or drill them and put a real rivet in ! Not sure about etched brass W irons though .
