The GWR 50ft Siphons
The next four vehicles for my GWR milk train have (at long last!) been finished.

The line-up consists of :-
dia. O11 (outside frame) Siphon G
dia. O12 (outside frame) Siphon H
dia. O22 (inside frame/ horizontal plank) Siphon G
dia O33 (inside frame/ vertical plank) Siphon G

O11 No.1353 is from a later Lot with angle-truss underframe (early Lots had queen posts with bars/rods) and is running on 9ft "American" bogies.

O22 No.1229  is from a Lot fitted with 7ft Collett bogies.

O33 No.2789 is from a Lot fitted with 9ft pressed steel bogies and (unlike all the others here) is electrically-lit, has a suspended type gangway connector (the others have "scissors" type)and the later pattern of underframe, with shallower trusses, but it retains the Dean/Churchward type brake handle (later Lots were fitted with conventional levers).

The "odd man out" is the O12 No.1432 Siphon H, which has end doors and a high roof, enabling it to be used as a covered carriage truck.

These four join the O8 "Siphon C", O7 "Siphon F" and P16 "Monster".
which were completed earlier in the year.

The O13 "Milk Train Brake Van" is nearing completion and a 40ft Dean K15 PBV is under construction.

There are still six 6-wheeled Siphons (diagrams O1 to O6) printed but awaiting assembly.

My fellow Members, ask not what your Society can do for you, ask what you can do for your Society.

Anthony Terranova

Am I correct John, or are my eyes deceiving me, that there are square shanks on the buffers in a square hole in the guide?

I may be able to simply ask whoever did them to make eliptical heads if so.

Kind regards

Yes, Slater's make/sell them part no. G31574 (I believe they were originally produced for the GRS GWR Collett corridor stock).

John.
My fellow Members, ask not what your Society can do for you, ask what you can do for your Society.
