Taylors auctions on 29th July includes (again) the ex-Mike May LNWR 0-8-0 here:
http://www.taylors-auctions.com/auction/lot/1154
£1500 - £2000
This has been in auction and advertised by dealers several times but seems unloved.  I understand it is basically sound, so why has nobody given it a good home?  Seems cheap.

and also a Carette NER 4-4-0:
http://www.taylors-auctions.com/auction/lot/1164
£2000 - £3000
I know nothing about Carette but this looks too good to be a commercial model from pre WW1.  Maybe it has been totally rebuilt and "improved"?

The 0-8-0 is back on the market, yet again.  Same auctioneers, same estimate.

If they get desperate and drop the price I might be tempted .....

Hi Mike

are the auction URLs correct? They appear to relate to another auction.

Couldn't see the other one (but it is a long list)and a search didn't locate it.

My fellow Members, ask not what your Society can do for you, ask what you can do for your Society.

The auction house is closer to you than to most of us Ian, and you know the history of the model.  Last seen a couple of years ago running at Ampthill it went well as the experienced owner had made several improvements, though a tab fast.  Just needs another 50 wagons behind it .. which I could help you with ...!

It's the NER 4-4-0 I'm interested in - wouldn't go near the LNWR 0-8-0

Its up for sale again.  Taylors auctioneers still.  Starting bids at £900.  It has to be approaching the price at which its worth buying whatever its problems - many of which I believe have been sorted anyway.
