Some of you may already be aware of this company - but I wasn't till I noticed a mention of them in RM (a 12mm NG railway had one as a scenic 'effect'!). Unfortunately, they are a bit beyond my purse for this sort of thing (a kit might have been more affordable) but they do look rather nice...

Mmm.... "The President" would make a nice load for my GWR Loriot (assuming it is not so heavy as to bend the none-too-rigid GRS resin casting)!

Also has a local connection at one period in its history.... Darbys of Sutton were based about a mile from where I live (now a housing development occupies "Darbys Yard").

My fellow Members, ask not what your Society can do for you, ask what you can do for your Society.

Ian, I agree with you; a bit pricey for a scenic accessory.

John, I think such a load would have require a bogie wagon of some sort.

I've had an e-bay search set up for a couple of years in case a damaged one comes up ... but it hasn't so they remain very expensive but very nice.

Ian,
I am sure a traction engine would be within the load capacity of a "Loriot M" which was rated at 20 Tons (the transfers supplied with the kit wrongly show , 15 tons) although the chimney may have required removal to pass the load gauge.
There is a photo in "Freight Wagons and Loads  in Service on the Great Western Railway" showing a 20 Ton "Loriot W" carrying a large, tracked, multiwheel, excavator (said in the caption to weigh 27 tons!).
I have seen photos of a 4-wheel "Lowmac" (the LNER/BR code for these wagons) carrying ploughing engines and traction engines, particularly on the GER/LNER.
John.

P.S. Have just found a link to a photo. http://s1307.photobucket.com/user/jwealleans/media/Miscellaneous/Traction_engine_on_lowmac_zpsnivyzzcf.jpg.html
